July 16. 2009- Summit Lake/Summit hike

A beautiful calm morning as we gather at Cameron Lake. This is one of our largest groups and not everyone was here for the picture.
We head off to the trailhead- some going just to Summit Lake, some to the top of the Summit and a few brave souls going all the way over and down to Waterton townsite.
Ruth brings her own shade with her

Beautiful varigated Indian Paintbrush

Jeannette, Clarie, Ruth, Sally, ?,  Elva, Marilyn  , Gerry- at the traditional "picture taking rock"

After many switchbacks we reach small but beautiful Summit Lake -a great place for some lunch and rest. I was lucky to have some of my family with me on this hike.

This was the hike of the "Bear Grass" Even on the drive up to Cameron Lake the Bear Grass was unbeliveable. We've never seen so much on this trail.

Karen and Karen- "Do we really want to go up there?
Awe- it doesn't look so bad!

Gerry- the explorer- What are you pointing at?

Karen enjoying the view
Spectacular views every where you look

Looking down the trail and across the valley at Lake Wurdeman. Those mountains are all in Montana's Glacier Park

Some tired, unidentifiable hikers- Karen Morton- why are you hiding your eyes?
Thanks Gerry for your many pictures. I didn't make it up to the Summit. Thank you everyone for a another great day in the mountains
