Elkford Trip 28-30 July, 2008

We were all so excited to begin our trip to Elkford B.C. Thank you so much Carol for inviting us and many thanks go to both you & to Greg for your hard work in getting your cabin ready for us. Our first stop was at Chinook Lake in Crowsnest Pass . Here is the gang

Betty, Loural, Pam, Geoff, LaVern, Beth, Carol, Helen, Judy, Karen, Marilyn, Betty Lou, Gail. In front -Gavin, Jamie, Janelle, Jared & Cloud
The hike there was to Deadman's Pass (did they ever get there without their "trusty leader" who just hike around Chinook Lake?) The only thing dead they saw were flattened frogs.
Then it was on to Elkford and supper at the pub.(Honest-everything else was closed) After it was on to the cabin with fun, games and much laughter. The next day was a 42 mile ride on a bumpy gravel road to Elk Lakes Provincal Park but it was worth it. Unfortunately Betty & Geoff had a flat tire and had to turn back.

A short hike and we were at Lower Elk Lake- It was so nice to have Beth & Helen with us.

Flower mushrooms along the trail.

Another short hike took us to Upper Elk Lake

The "younger" group took off on a rough lake shore trail full of rocks and roots, headed for Petain Falls. After another 3 1/2 miles and some climbing they were rewarded with this

Marilyn, LaVern, Karen, Carol, Loural,
Pam, Betty Lou, Gail took the picture

A tired group at the end of a wonderful day of hiking. Faye, Betty Lou, LaVern, Pam, Gail, Marilyn, Carol, Karen, Beth (taking care of Cloud-Betty Lou's dog) and Helen. (Loural's picture)
After a hilarious time as we had supper (who could forget-Vroom,-Urich and a few other games that kept us laughing) we went back to the cabin for more fun and plenty of snacks.

A quiet time brought joy to our hearts and tears to our eyes as we listened to beautiful music from the "Anderson Sisters"-Marilyn, Judy, Betty Lou and Carol.

Our final group picture at the cabin. Betty Lou's son Gavin did a great job taking the picture. He set the camera and then made a flying leap to be included in the picture.
The day was rainy and very wet so that day's hike was cancelled so with sad goodbyes we headed home.Thank you so much Carol for inviting us. We truly had a great time
